In line with EU renewable energy goals the electric power system in EU is in a path of significant structural changes, where power electronic based renewable sources will slowly replace traditional synchronous machine based generation, leading to the decrease of power quality at transmission system level. This transition will be discussed at the workshop of EU funded (H2020) project MIGRATE, focusing on future-proof harmonic distortion and frequency variation mitigation as a combination of power quality experts, experience of TSOs as well as regulatory perspective.
