Operating a transmission system without synchronous machine is possible! Different interoperable grid forming controls to achieve such a goal will be introduced, with a specific current limitation strategy to avoid hardware over sizing. A lab tour will be organized to have a demonstration of the controls implemented on the small real inverters. A short tutorial about using the open source models developed will be presented as well as a case-study based on the Irish system.
