In the context of the Sustainable Places 2024 event, BRIDGE will be involved in the session “EU Geographical Islands as Leaders of Green Energy Transition”. 

This workshop will bring together sister projects focusing on islands' decarbonisation and clean energy transition, aiming to reinforce synergies between H2020-HEU-LIFE-Interreg projects. The European Commission is focusing on making islands the engines of the EU energy transition due to their unique features, such as poor interconnection with energy grids, high production costs, and climate-related risks. Solutions for decarbonization on islands offer high energy, environmental, and socio-economic benefits, which can be replicated in mainland regions.
